Our Visit

We just had a day out at Bellevue Beach, and honestly, it’s every bit as amazing as they say – easily one of the top city nude beaches in the world. There’s a vibe here that’s hard to find anywhere else. Maybe it’s the laid-back Danish approach to nudity, where any beach can legally be a nude beach, but Bellevue? This place is special; it’s where you really feel at home, and no one cares if you’re naked or not.
Our visit on a bright, sunny weekend started off on a calm note. The crowd was mostly older, soaking up the chill beach atmosphere, with a sprinkle of younger couples adding a bit of diversity to the scene. But as the afternoon faded into evening, the whole place shifted gears. Younger groups began to fill the space, music started floating through the air, and the laid-back morning vibe gave way to an energetic, party-like atmosphere. And yeah, it definitely fills up quickly, so snagging a good spot can get a bit competitive.

The beach itself is spacious, but the majority of the people on the long beach are clothed. So if you’re shy or a first-timer, this could freak you out a little. It’s kind of like there’s an invisible line drawn on the northern section where suddenly everyone is nude. Bellevue Beach itself has a bit of a retro vibe, thanks to those iconic blue and white towers designed by the legendary Arne Jacobsen. It adds a quirky touch to the whole experience. Hungry? There’s no shortage of local spots to grab a bite, so you’re set for a full day of lazing in the sun. When we went, everyone was clothed, buying food from the beach vendor – so keep in mind you may need to throw on a towel (at the very least) unless you want to be the only naked person in a sea of clothed families.
Getting to Bellevue Beach is a breeze, especially by train. Just a 20-minute ride from the city center to Klampenborg Station, and you’re practically there – it’s super convenient and by far the easiest way to go. Copenhagen’s transit maps are simple to understand you just need to catch the orange train to the end of the line. Driving is an option too, but keep in mind, while there’s free parking, it tends to fill up pretty fast, especially on warm beach days. So, if you’re coming by car, maybe aim to get there a bit earlier to beat the rush.
Bellevue Beach is more than just a spot to sunbathe in the buff; it’s about community, good vibes, and making the most of those rare sunny Danish days. This beach is an iconic European nude beach worth visiting. Whether you’re a seasoned nude beach visitor or just curious, Bellevue welcomes you with open arms.Danish people know how to champion body positivity and inclusivity, it is a world class model that more countries should embrace. We just wish the beach season here was a bit longer and more predictable!
