Scheveningen Naaktstrand is a chilled-out area close to the city, yet it maintains a calming atmosphere. If you're someone who prefers a setting not overrun by crowds, and you enjoy basking under the sun—or even taking a nude swim in the beautiful, albeit chilly, northern ocean—then this place is ideal for you. It's rarely crowded with tourists, largely due to the Scheveningen pier, which is just 1.5 km away. Here, you'll encounter familiar, friendly faces enjoying a stroll, dozing in the sun, or savoring their coffee at the beach bar, t’Puntje, while children play joyfully in the sunshine.

There are no shortages of nude beaches in Europe but you should add Scheveningen Naaktstrand to your list! It definitely exceeds expectations for this part of the world and the soft golden sand is treat.

We first visited this beach the day after moving to the Netherlands. We were seeking the tranquility of a non-crowded beach, and that's exactly what we found here!
Getting to Scheveningen Naaktstrand is a treat, too. You can bike through beautiful dunes, the smell of the salty ocean guiding you along. Once at the beach, there's plenty of open space to choose your perfect spot. It’s a stunning beach with warm sand, an ideal place to relax, read, or spend quality time with friends and family, all thanks to its peaceful atmosphere.
What we adore about this beach is the vibe - it's just right, regardless of the mix of nude or textiles. Everyone minds their own business, simply enjoying their time here.
In the summer, the heat can be quite intense, but the ocean, which tends to be a bit cooler (around 17-19 degrees), offers a refreshing antidote after a bike tour or sunbathing session.
What sets this beach apart is its proximity, only around 6.5 kilometers, to The Hague's city center, a hub of politics. This might pique the interest of those looking to balance beach life with a dash of sightseeing in the Netherlands' third-largest city. It's a perfect opportunity to mix different vacation experiences in just one city!
Depending on what you're looking for in a vacation, there are various accommodations available, ranging from city center hostels and hotels to vacation parks, campsites, and beach cabins near the beach. Be warned, though, prices can be steep, so it's a good idea to book in advance and save some money!
Just remember, nudity is only allowed in designated areas of the beach, and definitely not on the way to the beach or in the restaurants. Despite this, the beach's beauty makes it an absolute must-visit when in the charming Netherlands.

Getting There
If you are staying in or nearby the Hague a good option to reach the beach is public transport, including buses and trams. The tram 9 rides from the central train station to the beach (station Zwarte Pad) following a walk around 800 meters to the nudist beach. But thebest alternative is typical Dutch by bike. If you didn’t bring your own bike, you can easily rent one at almost every accommodation or at special bike-rent shops.
Type “Scheveningen Noorderstrand, Strandslag 1 or Strandslag 8” in Google Maps to get a guide to the different parts of the nudist beach.

The Scheveningen beach with a lot of tasty food stands, cute beaches cafés and the pier. On the pier you can buy cute souvenirs, eat the delicious fish “kibbeling” and “poffertjes” or “Stroopwaffels” as a dessert. For the adrenaline junkies, they offer bungee jumping and flying fox over the ocean. Otherwise there are a lot of surfers, so you can also have a surf lesson (with clothes unfortunately).
Rent-a-bike: This is perfect place to grab a bike and peddle through nature to the nude beach. Do as the locals do and grab some wheels!

Vakantiepark Kijkduin is an accommodation close to the nudist beach with different kind of bungalows, tiny houses or campgrounds. No matter if you want some time with your partner or a family vacation with entertainment for your kids, this place has it all. But especially for families it’s a nice place because they offer different activities and have all kind of playgrounds here.

This hotel has a lot of luxuries to offer, for example a spa, great food and a collection of rooms with private sauna, whirlpools and rain showers. The workers are friendly and reliable. It’s close to the beach, with a lot of bars and restaurants to spend some quality time relaxing.
Carlton Beach Hotel- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐
This hotel is popular for the short distance of 20 steps to the beach, but it has a lot more to offer, for example two restaurants with a view over the ocean and tasty food, a sport, and health center and the possibility to take your beloved dog with you. It also offers a lot of special events and deals.
