The Good

  • Chill and Legal for Nude Vibes: Armands Beach is totally cool to strip down because it is legally a clothing optional beach. You'll normally be surrounded by other naked people on a weekend here.
  • Secluded Paradise: It's off the beaten path, giving you that awesome secluded feeling. Great for peace and quiet, away from the usual beach crowds.
  • Super Friendly Community: The Armands Beach Leisure Group looks after the beach and throws some fun events. It's a great way to meet people who are all about that nude beach life.
  • Naturally Gorgeous: The beach is stunning with clear water and soft sand. Plus, you might even spot some dolphins or whales if you're lucky!
  • Good for a Swim: The ocean here is pretty calm most of the time, so it's safe to take a dip. Just be aware there are no lifeguards on duty.
  • Wildlife and Scenic Views: Spotting kangaroos at sunset? Yes, please! It's like a little slice of Aussie wildlife heaven as they hop along the beach.
  • Shelter from the Wind: On breezy days there are plenty of sheltered spots at Armands Beach to escape the worst of the wind from most directions.

The Bad

  • Bit of a Trek: Getting to the beach involves a hike from the car park, so bring comfy shoes and be ready for a mini 1km workout. The track is well marked and not too long.
  • Zero Facilities: No loos or showers, so come prepared. You're going full-on nature mode here.
  • Shade's Scarce: The sun can be brutal, so pack your beach umbrella or shelter, unless you love getting a sunburn. It doesn't take much to get burnt out in the open here.
  • Watch Out for Waves: The surf can get rough, so maybe stick to the sand or paddling if you're not a strong swimmer. There are no lifeguards on duty here.
  • Not for Wheels: If you've got mobility issues, this beach might be tricky. The path's not really wheelchair-friendly.
Naked Truth

The Naked Truth

Armands Beach truly punches above its weight, easily vying for the title of NSW's best 'wild nude beach' – and we're here for it! The sense of community is palpable; it's a place where disrobing goes hand-in-hand with making connections with those who also cherish the nude beach lifestyle. The trek to get there is about 1km, requiring some focus, but it adds to the whole experience. Plus, you might get to see kangaroos lounging around, adding to the beach's charm! The beach itself is a stunner, boasting pristine waters. Do keep in mind that there are no lifeguards, so swim with caution. It's an ideal haven for nature lovers and nudists alike, especially since it seems to attract people for all the right reasons, without the worry of looky-loos. Just a heads up, though: pack everything you need, as facilities are sparse.

There are plenty of events organised at the beach by the Armonds Beach Leisure group. Try and visit for some beach cricket, bbqs etc.. it is one of NSW's most welcoming nude beaches.

Our recent visit to Armands Beach in Southern NSW was nothing short of fantastic. Touted as one of NSW's best 'wild nude beaches', it certainly lived up to our expectations. There are plenty of great nude beaches in NSW but this place is special. We picked a sunny weekend for our trip, discovering a beach alive with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, primarily frequented by couples enjoying the nude beach experience.

The journey to the beach is an easy 1km walk, with some parts requiring a bit of careful navigation. The destination, however, is worth every step. You're greeted by a secluded, pristine beach with water so clear it looks like something out of a postcard, and sand that's just perfect for lounging. The beach, though backed by wilderness, lacks shade, so bringing an umbrella is a good idea to avoid being burnt to a crisp.

The community vibe here is what really makes this beach so special. There's a genuine sense of camaraderie, thanks in part to the efforts of the Armands Beach Leisure Group (ABLG) who really look after this place and have a bunch of events. We were surrounded by mostly couples, all respectful and engaging. The highlight was we spotted kangaroos hopping along the beach in the late afternoon, adding to the unique charm of this place. The locals also mentioned that it’s also a great spot for dolphin and whale watching.

As the afternoon progressed, a breeze picked up, but thankfully, the beach offers plenty of sheltered spots to protect from the wind. This made our experience even more enjoyable as we could continue to relax without having sand blown all over us.

Remember, there are no facilities here, so get prepped with everything you need for the day. The water was a tad chilly for swimming, but it was perfect for a quick, refreshing dip. It can be rough here but during our visit the waves were a perfect.

The beach is highly recommended, especially for newbies. Armands Beach is a great laid-back, natural nude beach experience. It's a place where you can connect with nature and like-minded people in a serene and beautiful setting. Just keep an eye on the tides, pack smart, and you're set for a wonderful day at one of the best nude beaches in Australia.

Getting There

Armands Beach is accessible via two main carparks. The upper carpark is located near the Barragga Bay Beach road sign, while the lower carpark is more suitable for 4WD vehicles and includes stairs for easier beach access. The walk back from the beach is uphill, but there are places to rest along the way. Be cautious with GPS directions, as they can be misleading. Kullaroo Road is the most reliable route to reach the beach. There's usually enough parking space on most days.

By Car: Getting to Armands Beach in Southern NSW is quite straightforward once you know the route. Starting from Bermagui, head south on the Tathra-Bermagui coast road. After about 8 km, you'll pass over the one-lane Cuttagee Lake bridge. Keep going for another 2 km and then make a left turn onto Kullaroo Road. This road can be a bit rough, but it leads directly to the beach's parking area, marked by an "Armands Bay Beach" sign.
